My company hired "Bart" Burdit Phillips to fabricate a customer stair rail in one of our investment properties. The total job was $25,000. He asked for a deposit of $12,000 for materials to start the job. We signed the contract in June and we paid him the 12k. For the next 4 months, Bart came up with a small sample panel to represent what he would install in our 3 level property but never got any further than that. He had excuse after excuse on why he could not start the job. He showed up to our job site 3 different times without any employees or the materials! We gave him a chance because he seemed like a nice guy but in the end we discovered he A. is not a welder B. is not a fabricator and C. is not a designer so therefore he has no ability to do any job on his own. He kept complaining that he had no welders, was waiting on this and that. At the end of the day...in October after going back and forth and wasting 4 months we finally fired him and told him not to come back to our job site. He refused to refund our $12,000 and he said that even though that money was for materials, he had no materials to show for it. When we did further research we discovered that all his pictures on his website were fake and stolen from stock websites or foreign websites. He 100% misrepresented himself, his work and his company. We had to file a complaint with the Contractors Board and will probably have to sue him in civil court. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT HIRE BART BURDIT PHILLIPS! You will be wasting your time and money.
